For as long as I can remember, I have always detested PC gaming not because I did it out of desire to be a contrarian, but because I simply hated Windows as a gaming platform. I have run into memory leaks, GPU driver crashes, games crashing out of nowhere for absolutely no reason while on Windows. The differences of Linux and Windows should be about which operating system allows you to “easily” modify its kernel, system configurations, repackage your new distribution of said operating system.

Cutting to the chase—for Windows to actually be good for “edge cases” it needs to be more flexible than it is. Allow us to dismantle everything we don’t need, services, applications, every little single thing so that it can deliver the lightest version of Windows.

What most users don’t see about linux is how extremely flexible it is to just “ship anywhere”. Install AMD or NVIDIA drivers and that’s it. All you need is Heroic Launcher or Steam to do everything else and a well supported desktop environment, be it GNOME, KDE, or simply just launch Gamescope with Steam. All roads after all leads to Wayland. X11 is … or have been on its way out of the door for like a decade now.

Anyhow I don’t intend to keep this long. It is a text bits after all. I do feel like Linux is finally getting that push needed for adoption thanks to Valve.
