After spending two hours playing Hell Is Us, I’m really impressed with everything the studio has done so far. It’s hard to describe, but it feels like a mix of Death Stranding vibes and Resident Evil-style mysteries and puzzles that you uncover as you explore the hellish plane you’ve stepped into.

I’m not a fan of horror at all. I dislike the genre and that helpless feeling of trying to figure out how to survive if the game is a full into survival. However, I think Hell Is Us strikes a balance, avoiding things that would have turned me away by saying, “Here are the tools you can use to survive, and these are the mechanics available for you.”

Having that buffer of changing difficulties is half the battle. I think the greatest part of this game is basically unravelling everything of the world you are in and its habitants that seemingly in an endless religious(?) war.
